RAID Open Water 20
Imagine being able to interact with marine life without the nuisance of exhaust bubbles. Getting closer to the marine environment, staying longer diving deeper and diving safer are just some of the reasons why many divers chose Closed Circuit Rebreathers as a there prefered way of diving.
The JJ CCR rebreather was developed for a definitive need for a rugged and robust rebreather that is capable of being utilised in some of the world’s harshest diving conditions.
The rebreather community has referred to the JJ CCR as the 4×4 of rebreathers, and we agree that this a perfect description of this extremely versatile, well built and sturdy unit.
The philosophy behind the JJ CCR was to keep it simple, allowing it to be used in multiple configurations and carrying up to 4 cylinders in varying configurations. The JJ CCR has become the chosen unit for many training agencies and is one of the RAID’s preferred closed circuit units of choice.
In the RAID JJ CCR unit specific program not only will you master diving the JJ CCR you’ll be taught to identify the unit and all of its components for assembly, use, maintenance and cleaning.
During the program, you will be given the opportunity to develop a strong knowledge of the intricate design of the JJ-CCR whilst also being given a multitude of dive time to perfect and hone skills on the unit.
The JJ-CCR is fitted with back mounted counterlungs that follow the contours of the divers shoulders which allows it to have an extremely low work of breathing whilst keeping the front of the chest area free for mounting multiple stage and bailout cylinders.
The standard axial CO2 scrubber the JJ CCR holds 2.3 kg of sofnolime 797. The unit can also be optioned as an extended range unit that includes a large radial CO2 scrubber.

You must be:
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- Certified as Master Rescue Diver or equivalent
- RAID Deco 40 or equivalent, with 50 logged dives.
Divers already certified as rebreather divers may participate in the JJ-CCR (Cross Over) Diver Specialty only as they are already proficient in rebreather diving and only need specific knowledge, skills and time on the JJ-CCR.
Once certified, divers will be capable of diving to 40 metres/130 feet using air diluent. This program is not a decompression course however the CCR Deco 40 program may be bolted on if the participant meets the prerequisites
For prerequisites for participation on this course please register on the RAID website and download the RAID General Diving Standards. For full details please contact your local RAID DIVE CENTRE.
