Becoming a scuba diver is not only fun and exciting, it’s a great way to meet new friends and experience the underwater world.
At Bay City Scuba we know that safe scuba diving revolves around quality education and practical experience, there are certain rules and theories you need to understand in order to become a safe and competent diver, during the theory component you will not only learn them but you will understand the principles behind them. Our education program is like no other, we take a fresh approach to dive education using the latest in online training programs offered by our training partner RAID, audio visual aids, class discussions and a series of practical workshops, as well as a lot of direct interaction with your instructor.
Our RAID Open Water 20 program is aimed to make sure that our students are getting the very best underwater experience. With a maximum instructor to student ratio of 1:4, allowing our instructors to be able to spend time individually with each student to make sure they are comfortable and are getting all the attention they need.

Before setting you free on the oceans of the world, you will need to learn a few basic skills, things such as clearing your mask underwater, sharing air with your dive buddy, understanding the importance of mastering buoyancy & many other skills that will make you a confident, proficient & competent diver. At Bay City Scuba, our emphasis is to ensure that you are ready to proceed to the next step once you have achieved mastery of the skills in a controlled environment, not just rushed through. This module is run in the comfort of a heated swimming pool over a half or full-day depending on the program that you choose.
The following day or days depending on your selected program you will do a series of shore dives, each will average 50 minutes to 1 hour, on each dive you will be required to demonstrate the skills you acquired in your pool training and to familiarize yourself with the marine environment.
The following day will see us board the dive vessel to undertake 2 boat dives, one of which will have you reach a depth of 20 meters – this is the certifying depth through our internationally recognized training partner RAID. This is your passport to dive anywhere in the world independently of a dive professional!
